The Challenge
A Pittsburgh-area general contractor had been in business for 11 years on referrals alone. That model had worked. It was starting to create a ceiling.
Several commercial property managers had asked for a website to send to their decision committee before awarding a bid. He had a domain he'd registered in 2019 and forgotten about.
The situation:
- Domain registered through a reseller account he no longer remembered how to log into
- No professional email — still using a personal Gmail address on estimates and invoices
- No website
- No timeline tolerance for a months-long build process
- No interest in owning and managing a pile of separate vendor accounts
The Solution
We recovered access to the dormant domain, transferred it to a registrar account under his direct control, and built out the full foundation:
- Email: Microsoft 365 Business Basic — professional addresses for him and his office manager, with correct DNS configuration and spam filtering in place
- Hosting: Managed WordPress hosting through Concierge Web Hosting, with SSL, daily backups, and uptime monitoring from day one
- Website: Five-page business site through Concierge Web Design — services, about, project types, service area, and contact — built to load fast and look professional on mobile
- DNS: All records documented and consolidated under a single dashboard
One point of contact. One invoice. Every vendor relationship documented.
The Result
The site was live 21 days after kickoff.
Within 30 days, he submitted his first formal bid to a commercial property manager — with a working website link in the proposal.
He has since updated the site twice through the care plan, added a project gallery, and brought on a second email mailbox for a new project manager. No vendor confusion, no lost credentials, no cleanup required.
The referral business still drives most of his work. The website now handles the question he used to have to answer manually: "Can I see what you've done?"
